CHIPA visited Parliament House on 27th June 2018 to meet with Shadow Cabinet members Alex White (Health Advisor to the Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Bill Shorten MP), Sam Trobe, Deputy Chief-of-Staff, and Dr Michael Freelander MP, Member for Macarthur.

At the meetings childhood injury was presented and discussed as the lead cause of hospitalisation, death and disability in Australian children. It was stressed that bipartisan support is needed for a national coordination of preventing childhood injury, timely and meaningful national linked injury data access, as well as, addressing disparities in a child’s access to trauma care and outcomes including death, based on regionality and hospital.

CHIPA will continue to stay in touch with the Shadow Ministry and looks forward to their continued support and response in our call to action.
