I’m pleased that we are starting to see some support for walking and cycling in parts of Australia. Recently, the NSW Government announced a $15 million fund in which councils can apply for grants up to $100,000 for immediate pilot projects and up to $1 million for longer term projects. The City of Melbourne have also announced that they will repurpose car parks for footpaths and implement 12 km of pop-up cycling lanes.
These are small, but important steps, towards creating space for walking and cycling. We would like to see Australia follow the UK’s lead, who have recently announced a 2 billion pound plan to boost cycling and walking.
Thank you once again to everyone for your support of this campaign. We will continue to work towards providing safe space for all.
